#498 Shawn E. Boynes, Executive Director of the American Association for Anatomy

Shawn E. Boynes, FASAE, CAE, has over 20 years association management experience and since 2013 serves as Executive Director of the American Association for Anatomy in Rockville, MD. In 2019 he led the organization through a name change and comprehensive rebranding which required not just Board support but membership approval. The former name of the organization was the American Association of Anatomists. The name change better positions the organization to represent the scientific discipline of anatomy compared to its former name which focused on individuals who identified as anatomists. The organization has 132 years of history so the name change was significant.

AAA serves as the professional home for an international community of biomedical researchers and educators focused on the discipline of anatomical sciences.
